first appearance - an unpretentious little crossroads inn, while nevertheless
most inviting - rather well disguises the veritable feast of delights
which await - and yet sits so well with what follows. David is a merry
Scotsman of the very best sort.

Peat Inn is all about the creation of a convivial, easygoing, almost
outrageously 'normal' and laidback atmosphere - with no conscious effort
to parade the formal trappings usually associated with the gastronomic
gravitas of an experience of such quality. Such a relaxed atmosphere
- eat, drink - and sleep - so well in such comfortable surroundings,
earned Peat Inn a Michelin rosette in 1987, thoroughly deserved. Definitely
no prima donnas here - as tend to be characteristic of this age.
Customers are dinner guests, friends - you could be excused for thinking
you weren't in a 'commercial' environment at all.

brilliant wine list beckons, over 400 bins strong, with a particularly
exciting selection of Burgundies chosen from the best shippers. Prices
borne out of sanity rather than greed!
A sensational set 6 course menu of the day sits teasingly alongside
the main a la carte menu with its 7-8 strong selection of starters,
main courses and puddings. We'll leave the rest to the imagination!

just imagine - be yourself, far from the madding crowd, in a beautiful
country area bearing none of the hectic pressures of urban life -all
so well reflected in and encouraged by the blissful, almost therapeutic
ambience.
